Mohammad Pashtun, Ambassador to the U.S. Said T. Jawad, and other Afghan dignitaries and business leaders addressing the fourth annual U.S.-Afghan Business Matchmaking Conference presented by the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) on October 21, 2008 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. Other conference highlights will include the presentation of the AACC's 2008 Business Person of the Year Award.
This annual event convenes U.S. and Afghan leaders from the public and private sectors to promote the role of business development in Afghanistan's reconstruction and emerging economy. It also is the largest yearly gathering that brings together American and Afghan business representatives to discuss business and investment opportunities and joint ventures. Leading representatives of U.S. and Afghan corporations, educational and development organizations, and government agencies will participate. The conference will present sessions on the private sector role in economic development and the respective roles of business and government in engaging the private sector in stabilization, financing and insuring investment, development of Afghanistan's assets, and U.S.-Afghan relations. It also will include discussion sessions on business opportunities in the energy power, mining & minerals, construction & infrastructure, agriculture and food processing sectors.
