CASTLE ROCK, Colo., Nov. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Recent public- opinion polling in Colorado shows opposition to Referendum I has increased to within the margin of error of defeating the domestic-partnership referendum.
A Channel 9/Circuili & Associates poll released this week shows Ref. I with 48 percent support, 44 percent opposition and 8 percent undecided. A Denver Post poll conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research released in Sunday's edition shows Ref. I with 47 percent support, 42 percent opposition and 11 percent undecided. Both polls were conducted in the last week.
"This is encouraging news," said Jim Pfaff, co-founder of Colorado Family Action. "As more and more Coloradans learn about Referendum I and its far-reaching impact on Colorado's families, businesses and taxpayers, they are saying 'no' to counterfeit marriage."
These same polls show strong support for Amendment 43 to define marriage as one and one woman in Colorado. The Channel 9 poll shows 55 percent support for Amendment 43, while the Denver Post poll shows 51 support.
"This election will certainly come down to turnout and getting voters who are concerned about the family to the polls on Election Day," Pfaff said. "Colorado Family Action is working hard to highlight these important issues and how values voters can help protect the institution of marriage."
