ANNAPOLIS, Md., Nov. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy is pleased to announce that Doctor McKamy Smith has joined The Center's Board of Directors. Dr. Smith is a nationally-recognized expert on cardiovascular disease; he serves on the staff of the Jackson Heart Clinic and is affiliated with the St. Dominic Hospital and the River Oaks Hospital, all in Jackson, Mississippi.

Dr. Smith received his A.B. in Biology from Princeton University in 1961 where he graduated cum laude; his M.D. Degree from Baylor University College of Medicine in 1966; and his Ph.D. in physiology from Baylor in 1967. He did his internship at Presbyterian Hospital, Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, California and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Oschner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his fellowship in Cardiology from the University of Alabama Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.

He holds memberships in an extensive listing of professional organizations including the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, the American Federation for Clinical Research, and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Smith is recognized as an expert in his field and has authored or co-authored nearly 40 scientific articles, abstracts and presentations on technical issues and cardiovascular research. He is a native of Dallas, Texas; he currently resides in Jackson, Mississippi with his wife, Martha.

In making the appointment, Dr. Harold M.
